Waxing 101

 

To ensure the ultimate waxing experience, please review and follow our instructions and guidelines.

We ask that you immediately inform your assigned esthetician or us if you have had or if you are under treatment for any skin condition.  Please advise us if you are presently taking any of the medications listed below.

 We advise that you read all the labels on your medications carefully. Please refer to your dermatologist if you are taking any medicine or utilizing any topical cream that may contain any of the following medications:

 Acne Medication

 o Adapalene

o Accutane

o Avage

o Differin

o Tazarac

o Isotretinoin (Accutane)

o Corticoids

o Tazarotene (Tazorac)

Retin A (Anti-Aging and Acne Medication)

o Avita

o Alustra

o Renova

o Tretinoin

Please Note:

If you are presently utilizing any of the following treatments or have any allergies or skin sensitivities, please notify your esthetician. The use of some of these products can make your skin more prone to sensitivity. Sensitive or thin skin is more susceptible to lifting during waxing.

 o    Any other medications to treat Acne that are not listed above

o    Any bleaching agents for hair or pigmentation of the skin (Hydroquinone, Trilumena)

o    Salicylic Acid

o    Oral Antibiotics

o    Previous chemical hair removers such as Nair

o    Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic, Lactic)

o    Topical Antibiotics

o    Benzoyl Peroxide (ProActive)

o    Retinol

o    Any other exfoliants

SAFETY MEASURES & CONSIDERATIONS:

Please review the following guidelines and tips.

 o    Moles cannot be waxed

o    Anyone who has had Microdermabrasion or a light chemical peel must wait a minimum of seven (7) days before receiving any waxing service

o    Any irritated, burned or areas with open skin cannot be waxed

 We may not perform any Waxing Services under the following circumstances:

 o    If you utilized a tanning booth the day of service

o    If any laser skin resurfacing has been administered to you within one (1) year

o    If you have had a physician-administered peel performed within the past two (2) years

 Aftercare tips and guide:

 o    Do not suntan or utilize tanning booths for two (2) days following any waxing service

o    We advise that you take additional precaution if you utilize any tanning accelerators

o    Wait 2-3 days to wax before or after you tan with accelerators

o    We recommend that you do not take any hot baths for 24-hours following any waxing service

o    Please take notice that some women may experience extra sensitivity to waxing about one week before the start of their menses

o    We suggest that you do not utilize any abrasives on your skin for 24-hours following any waxing service

o    Do not use any deodorants for 24-hours following any underarm waxing service
